Fall Pre-Emergent in Central Texas

WELP…it’s that time! We FINALLY have some cooler temps and hopefully some rain on the horizon, that all of our lawns could desperately use!

Overnight temperatures in the 60’s will not only help our lawns green up a bit before dormancy, they will also start to spawn some of Texas’ toughest weeds before you know it. So NOW is the time to get your first round of Fall Pre-Emergent down.

Broadleaf weeds will start to rear their ugly heads first and are certainly an eyesore. Dandelions, henbit, cleaver, clover, chickweed are just a few of the culprits that can be cut back significantly with 1 simple application. It is very important that you get this done before seeds begin germinating.
Pesky weeds such as Poa Annua (annual bluegrass), Rescuegrass are not only tough to kill but a major eyesore on your landscape. Getting a 2nd Pre-Emergent down in another 6 weeks will keep from having to bust out the Round-Up or worst of all, getting out there and pulling those ugly pests from your lawn. I’d rather be watching football or heck even going to the dentist!

First things first, get that initial application done ASAP to minimize weed issues. If you’re a do-it-yourselfer, look for a product called Dimension or products with the active ingredient Prodiamine. They will come in a granular form that you can spread using your typical fertilizer spreader. Make sure you read the label carefully for spreader settings and always follow the watering instructions to a T for best results!

As always, if you have any questions or would like for us to take these tasks off your hands, just shoot us a message or give me a call at 512.508.3954 for a free quote!

Thanks yall,
